Winter Days

In the morning cold,
I wake up for school in despair,
Shivering in the room and combing my hair.
I look out the window,
nothing I see,
nothing but the faint shadow of the banyan tree.
everything is engulfed in the morning mist,
I pull my sweater upto my fist.
The only warmth I get is from my heart that beats,
constantly, in a rhythm and keeps me adrift.
I walk down the stairs in utter pain,
wondering if the school had gone insane.
Troubling young kids on winter days,
"It's all for own benefit", my mother says.
I keep my head down,
I go to school,
Wondering If I just had been made a fool.
My friends and I, sit in the horrible state.
In pain, sorrow and despair.
Coming to school on winter mornings.
We all completely hate.

A Ray of Hope

In a country laden with poverty, violence and corruption,
people distraught, fighting to survive,
Festivals lighten the mood and help us revive.

When we open our newspapers in the morning,
Scams, murders and what all cover the pages.
People feel the country has no scope,
But we strong Indians live on hope.

We live in a country with a strong heritage,
To be a part of it, is a great privilege and
each festival brings love, prosperity and joy,
People unite to celebrate and enjoy.

Be it Christmas, Diwali or Eid,
The enthusiasm we Indians show is unmatched indeed.
Forever these festivals live,
Warmth to the poor and lonely they give.

They brighten up the world,
make it a happier place,
they help bring back a smile to the face.

2012 : The Beginning of the End

The Mayans predicted the last day of Earth,
It has been 4.5 billion years since its birth.
It has come time for famine to strike,
Prices of food to hike and deaths alike.
Global warming may have played its part,
We had a chance to stop it before it had start.
We had it coming for us,
Destruction will spread like a virus.
Earthquakes and volcanoes will change the shape of the crust,
Tsunami's will rise and all mankind would be swept from the face of the earth.

This is what they "predicted" so let's hope this is not the case,
We should take this as a warning and start from the base.
We should stop the wars for the sake of the future,
Rather than wasting resources,
We should start to nurture.

Expressions Of a Teenager

We learn from our elders,
We follow their path,
They teach us things more important than English, History or Math.
We mean no harm, but only good,
We try to be the best in the neighbourhood.
We develop new ideas and wonderful thoughts,
Because noone wants to live a life full of naughts.
We want to have fun and help each other out,
Work, fun and integrity is what we are all about.
We make new friends,we create new trends.
We wait for our turn,
We all came here to learn.
We want to stand out in the crowd,
As we want our parents to feel proud.
With the right guidance,
We will cover the distance,
And we will make a difference.
